Completed
in late 2004, these detailed instructions assist the Design Professional/Specifier in preparing the project specifications for flexible brick pavements. This can be viewed on line or downloaded and printed.

Technical Notes 14 - Paving Systems Using Clay Pavers

Abstract:
This Technical Note presents an overview of paving systems made with clay pavers used in pedestrian and vehicular, residential and nonresidential projects. Commonly used systems that include clay pavers are discussed, and guidance is given in selecting the appropriate clay paver, setting bed and base. Site conditions and project requirements that may affect choice are discussed, including subgrade soil, pedestrian and vehicular traffic, accessibility requirements, drainage, and appearance.

Technical Notes 29 - Brick in Landscape Architecture, Pedestrian Applications

Abstract:
This Technical Note describes brick paving systems used in landscape design. Landscape architecture and its relationship to brick masonry is covered. Master planning and environmental aspects of landscape architecture are briefly discussed. Applications covered include patios, walks, steps and ramps. Materials and methods of construction of flexible and rigid paving applications, citing the most critical requirements, are outlined.

Building a Classic Brick Driveway

VHS format, color video, 32 minutes. Developed in 1998 in cooperation with HomeTime, this video shows experienced "do it yourself" homeowners and paving contractors how to plan and construct a brick driveway. It includes professional tips and techniques to produce an attractive, low maintenance driveway. Look for item # 967 in the Brick Bookstore. 
 

Vocational Skills Training for Segmental Paver Installation

This student manual is a compilation of basic best practices in paver installation from the US, Canada and the world. Authored by Steve Jones, a former paving contractor, it includes insight from his more than 17 years of providing hands on training for segmental paving contractors.
